Private lessons:


Offered from beginners to advanced students who would like to pursuit more serious one-on-one musical education in school.  In addition to weekly lessons, students participate in studio class in small group settings and play in three public recitals throughout the academic year. Also, students spend time on computer lab center to work on theory and listening skills individually. Students will be given opportunity to take music evaluation-- Certificate of Merit, presented by Music Teacher Association of California, and also to perform or compete in the events presented by PIOM, MTAC and CAPMT.

Group lessons—Harmony Road Music Course:


Harmony Road Music Course is an exciting beginning music program specifically designed for each age group. Its goal is to provide step-by-step musical training through listening, solfege singing, keyboard playing, transposing, improvisation, composing and creative skills, which will aid in the growth of a child inner music and enhance all future musical activities.

 

Program offers variety groups lessons, such as:

Toddler Tunes

Ages 2-3 years

This a joyful first music experience. Tots and parents share in a music-making program of rhythms, finger plays, active movement games, keyboard exploration and singing.

12 weekly 30-minute classes

 

 

Music in Me

Ages 3-4 years

This is a dynamic readiness program for young children with emphasis on ear-training, solfege singing, body movement, finger games, and keyboard activities, pitch and rhythm awareness. Creativity is stressed. Parents are involved in class and at home.

16 weekly 45-minute classes

(A Two 16-week program)

 

 

Harmony Road

Ages 4 1/2-6 years

The course is carefully constructed for children to learn the basic building blocks of music through ear training, solfege singing, keyboard playing, ensemble, rhythmic activities and music creativity. This exceptional course gives the student “inner hearing” which makes skills such as transposing, improvisation and composing easily accessible to their musical studies. Parents are involved in class and at home.

20 weekly 50-minute classes

(A 2-year program)

 

 

Young Musician

Ages 6-7

The Young Musician Course is an exciting program which introduces beginning students to keyboard and piano skills, ear-training; pitch development, solfege singing, ensemble, and rhythm and movement activities. Parent involvement in class is encouraged.

20 weekly 50-minute classes

(A 2-year program)

 

 

Keyboard Prep

Ages 8-11

The Keyboard Prep Course is designed for children ages 8-11 who are studying music for the first time. This motivating program develops thee student’s basic musicianship skills through ear training, solfege singing, keyboard performance and writing music. Parent involvement encouraged.

20 weekly 50-minute classes

(A 1 1/2 –year program)

 


Group Singing Class for Young Musicians (Age 5 and up):

Group Singing Class for Teen and adults:

 

This 8 week course is designed for those who want to sing but have never learned how.  Taught by an experienced singer and voice teacher, we will learn fundamental singing technique (posture, breath support, placement/registers, tone, diction) as well as interpretation and performance skills.  A daily "vocal workout" routine of voice-building exercises will be introduced and given for students to practice at home.  In a safe, encouraging environment, students will be taught how to learn and polish a song and will work up to singing a solo in the final session "recital."  Whether as an introduction to private voice lessons, to improve choir singing, or just for fun, this class will help students polish their natural instrument and develop a talent that they can enjoy the rest of their lives.

 


Music Theory and History Classes


PIOM offers additional music theory and history classes for all level:

60-minute classes meet once a week in school classroom.
