2020 Student Honor Recital

We are very proud to present our 2020 PIOM Honor Students! Each year, we have a Student Honor Recital in May at Harris Center for the Arts! However, due to the pandemic, live concerts are not allowed in the area. Arianne Zhang

Chopin - Polonaise in G minor

Arianne Zhang is a student from Dr Irina Tchantceva’s studio at PIOM. Arianne is 10 years old and is currently a 5th grade student in Loomis Basin Charter School. She started her piano lessons when she was 6 years old. In addition to playing piano, she also enjoys reading books and playing violin.

Will Huang

Thomas Attwood Sonatina in G I Allego II Andante III Rondo Allego

Will Huang is a student from Ms. Carol Chuang’s Studio at PIOM.
He is 8 years old and has been playing piano for 15 months. Currently, he is a 2nd grade student at Theodore Judah elementary school. Besides playing piano, he loves swimming and playing chess.

Isabel Feng

Toccata by Francis Poulenc

Isabel Feng is a student from Ms. Carol Chuang’s studio at PIOM. She is a 9-year-old 4th grader and has been playing piano for 5 years.

When not practicing piano, she can be found with her nose in a book or playing “school” with her sister and 56 stuffed animal students. Her dream is to be a teacher when she grows up.

Yichen Huang

Mozart Sonata K.545 Mvmt 1

Yichen Huang is a student from Ms. Carol Chuang’s studio at PIOM. She is 8-years-old and has been playing piano for 3.5 years.

Yichen is a 3rd grader at Russell Ranch Elementary school. She likes dancing and swimming, as well as reading fiction and science books.

William Ye

Chopin Waltz in Db Major, Op 64 No 1

William Ye is a student from Ms Carol Chuang’s studio at PIOM.

William is a 9 years old, is currently a 4th grader in Natoma Station Elementary and has been playing piano for almost 4 years. He loves playing sports—especially tennis—as well as watching engineers build things on YouTube.

Claire Jin

Bartok – Romanian Folk Dances

Claire Jin—a student from Ms. Carol Chuang’s Studio—is 8-years-old and a second grader at Sandra J. Gallardo Elementary School.

Aside from playing the piano, Claire loves reading, math, and playing tennis and chess.

Veronica Richard

Mozart Sonata No 5 in G Major, KV 283 I. Allegro

Veronica Richard, a student of Ms Carol Chuang’s at PIOM, is twelve years old and is currently in the sixth grade at Ridgeview Elementary School in Granite Bay.

She’s been taking piano lessons since age seven, but for the past year has also been playing the flute. In addition to her music, Veronica may be found on the tennis court swinging her racket and chatting with friends. One of her newest projects has been filming time lapse videos of her friends playing video games.

Audrey Jiang

Sinfonia No 15 BWV 801 by J.S. Bach

Audrey Jiang is a student of Ms. Carol Chuang’s piano studio at PIOM. She is a fifth grader at Russell Ranch Elementary School and has been playing piano for 5 years.

Besides playing piano, she likes to read, swim, and paint.

Garrett Xu

Chopin Waltz in F major, Op.34 No.3

Garrett Xu is student of Ms. Carol Chuang’s at PIOM. He is 13 years old and attends 8th grade as Granite Oaks Middle School.

Besides playing piano, he loves to learn math and play rhythm games in his free time.

Maria Kudryavtseva

Rachmaninoff Prelude Op. 3 No. 2 in C# Minor

Maria Kudryavtseva is a student of Ms Carol Chuang’s at PIOM. She is currently 14-years-old, but has been playing piano since she was 5 and taking lessons since 10. She goes to Folsom Middle School where she’s in the 8th grade.

In addition to playing piano, she takes Jazz Band classes at her school. She also enjoys reading and going for walks.

Grace Feng

F. Schubert: Impromptu Op.142 No.3 in B-flat major, D.935

Grace Feng is an 8th grader from Folsom, CA. She began her piano lessons at the age 4 with Ms. Carol Chuang.

Besides playing both piano and viola, Grace also enjoys writing and baking.

Selina Lin

Chopin Ballade No. 3 in A-Flat Major Op. 47

Selina Lin is a sophomore at Oak Ridge High School and a student of Ms. Carol’s studio at PIOM.

In addition to studying piano, she is part of the ORHS marching band. She also likes to draw, tutor kids after school, play video games, and listen to music.

William Hwang

Liszt/Paganini Etude No.6 in A minor

 
William Hwang—a student from Ms Carol Chuang’s Studio—has been learning piano since 4th grade and is currently in 11th.
 
In addition to piano, his hobbies include instrumentals by Hans Zimmer and learning about different languages.
 

Owan Yang

Prokofiev Sonata no 1

Owen Yang is a sixteen-year-old junior at Folsom High School who’s been playing piano since age 5 and is currently studying with Ms. Carol Chuang.

In addition to piano, Owen plays cello as a member of the Folsom Lake Symphony under maestro Peter Jeff. He’s also passionate about math.

Noah Wong

J. B. Bréval: Cello Concerto No. 2, Op. 17 in D Major, I. Allegro Moderato

 
Noah Wong is seven-year-old 2nd grader at the Buckeye Union Mandarin Immersion Charter School and is currently studying with Mr. Jia-Mo Chen at PIOM. He has been playing cello for almost two years.
 
In addition to playing cello, Noah enjoys reading, downhill skiing and mixed martial arts.
 

Jayden Hoh

Jayden Hoh, a student of Ms. Rei at PIOM. He is a 7th grader at Sutter Middle School and has been playing the violin since age 7.

Jayden is also a member of Folsom Lake College Youth Chamber Orchestra. In his free time, Jayden enjoys developing games and is a Lego Architecture enthusiast.

Aaron Niu

Haydn Cello Concerto No. 1 (3. Allegro molto)

Aaron Niu, a fourteen-year-old student from Mr. Jia-Mo Chen’s studio at PIOM. He’s in ninth grade and has been playing the cello for six years. Aaron loves listening to Bach’s cello suites and playing many different composers’ concertos.

In addition, he swims on a competitive team and likes to read in his spare time. In the future, Aaron hopes to continuously improve his playing and achieve many things with cello.

Ava Adams

Bach Sonata No. 3

18-year-old Ava Adams is currently a sophomore at Folsom Lake College, but will soon be transferring to nursing school. She has studied with Dr. Christine Choi since 2019, has performed with the Sacramento Youth Symphony for six years and played with a number of chamber groups as well.

Ava enjoys skiing and traveling when she is not studying, and plans continue to practicing as much as possible during nursing school.

Kevin Chen

Gavotte in G Minor by J. S. Bach

Kevin Chen, is a student from Dr. Christine Choi’s studio at PIOM and has been playing violin for 2 years. He is 8-years-old and is in the 3rd grade at Buckeye Union Mandarin Immersion Charter School in El Dorado Hills. Besides playing violin, he loves reading, coding, and playing video games.

Hanna Wysoczynska

Concerto in E minor, Opus 64, Mendelssohn

Hanna Wysoczynska, now 13, has been playing the violin since she was 5. Hanna shares her long and exciting journey of learning with her amazing teacher Rei Luu. She is currently a 7th grade student at Sutter Middle School.

Additionally, Hanna has performed with the Sacramento Youth Symphony since 2015 and is now playing in Premier Orchestra. In her free time, she likes to draw, play tennis, hike and simply enjoy nature.
