An avid cellist since his youth, Dylan began studying cello at California State University – Sacramento at age 16, and became the principal cellist of the CSUS orchestra by age 17. He then pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance with a Certificate in World Music at the Eastman School of Music, learning from cello legend David Ying. In the spring of 2025, he graduated with a Master’s degree in Cello Performance from the University of Tennessee’s Natalie Haslam College of Music, where he worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant to Dr. Wesley Baldwin’s cello studio.

Dylan has performed as substitute principal for the Brevard Philharmonic in North Carolina, as well as substituting in the Knoxville Opera Company in Tennessee, and Sacramento Philharmonic in California. He served as principal in the University of Tennessee Opera Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra, associate principal in the Eastman Philharmonia, and principal in the Sacramento State Orchestra. Recent concert highlights include playing principal in Brevard Philharmonic’s Cirque de la Symphonie collaboration, assistant principal in the PBS-documented performance of All-Rise (featuring Wynton Maralis, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Band, Chautauqua Festival Orchestra, and Buffalo Chorus), and principal of UT Orchestra for Sibelius Violin Concerto performed by Frank Huang.

As a passionate music educator, Dylan has worked with students of all ages and skill levels since he was 18. He has been cello faculty for the Sacramento Youth Symphony’s Summer Chamber Workshop for the past four years, including a brief appearance as the junior week’s conductor in 2024. In addition, he was both a chamber coach and administrative assistant for the Knoxville Youth Symphony’s Chamber Music Program from 2024-2025. His research in masterclass pedagogy has been a highlight of his graduate studies, culminating in conducting a cello masterclass for the Knoxville Suzuki Academy. Giving back to the community is of great importance to Dylan; he has volunteered to give lessons at the RocMusic organization in New York, and the Joy of Music School in Tennessee, with plans on giving virtual lessons to students in Ghana starting Fall of 2025.
