Pierre Dazin, BM

Violin

Pierre began his violin studies at the age of 8 under the guidance of Li Lin in the Bay Area. Over the next decade, he won some local violin competitions such as the Senior Strings Division of the MTAC’s VOCE competition in 2005, and toured and performed as part of both the California Youth Symphony (CYS) and the San Francisco Youth Symphony Orchestra.

He went on to earn his Bachelors in Violin Performance from the New England Conservatory under Marylou Speaker Churchill and James Buswell. His performing career has taken him to venues around the globe, including Vienna’s Musikverein, Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw, Paris’s Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, and Germany’s Rheingau Festival. He has also performed at French summer music festivals in Lyon and St. Riquier, off-Broadway at the 92nd Street Y, The Harvard Club of Boston, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, and the esteemed Jordan Hall in Boston.

A passionate educator, he has taught hundreds of students throughout his career. His students hold positions in local orchestras and school programs, including CYS and the San Jose Youth Orchestra. He coaches students with a work ethic based on patience and understanding, and supports proper communication about music at home with parents.

He puts a significant emphasis on performing and warm-ups over “practice” and sight reading to make the fastest progress based on the student. Residing currently in Mountain View, Pierre has been teaching privately for over 14 years.
